Public Art Experience (PAX)
OverviewPAX Sculpture
The Montrose Public Art eXperience (PAX) aims to create a more pleasing visual environment, expand opportunities to experience quality works of art, and facilitate the development, acquisition, and display of art in Montrose’s public spaces. The PAX Brochure and Sculpture Location Map serves as a guide to exploring sculptures that are on display in Downtown Montrose.

Sculptures
While visiting Downtown Montrose, take time to enjoy the many sculptures that are displayed. Each year the PAX works to bring quality works of art, on loan, to display in public locations around Montrose. Their goal is to enhance the community by creating new opportunities for people to come together as a community and enjoy direct engagement with quality works of art.

Traditionally, the sculptures are unveiled in early to mid-September. In celebration, PAX hosts a reception open to the public in Centennial Plaza. This event has grown over the years and is fun for all ages. If you would like more information on PAX and a map of the sculpture locations please visit the Visitors Center located inside the Chamber of Commerce.

People’s Choice Award
Each year the public has the opportunity to select the winner of the People’s Choice Award – a cash prize to the artist. Your votes will also help us decide which piece to purchase and donate to the city’s permanent art collection. People’s Choice voting forms can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 433 South First Street, or the Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism, or mailed to:
